On Tuesday, Anne Kananu Mwenda was sworn in as the third Governor of Nairobi City County. This followed months of a long wait, coupled with court battles that saw her serve as acting governor after she had been sworn in as deputy governor. All this happened after Mike Sonko had been ousted as the second governor in December 2020. On November 8, the Supreme Court struck out an application by former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko challenging the swearing-in of Anne Kananu as the next county chief.
