The UAE has lifted all flight restrictions imposed since the start of the US-Israel war on Iran. This decision marks a significant milestone in the recovery of the aviation sector.

All air operations have returned to ‘normal status’ in UAE airspace. The UAE’s airports handled 1.4 million passengers and recorded 7,839 air traffic movements during a partial resumption of air traffic from March 1 to 12.

The UAE General Civil Aviation Authority stated, “Our decision came following a comprehensive assessment of operational and security conditions, in coordination with the relevant authorities.” The US-Israel war on Iran caused major disruptions across the Middle East, leading to airspace closures in at least eight states.

More than 11,000 flights in and out of the region were cancelled in the opening days of the conflict. With restrictions now lifted, observers expect a gradual increase in travel and cargo operations.

Key facts:

The UAE’s airports handled 1.4 million passengers during partial resumption.

Air traffic movements totaled 7,839 during this period.

Normal operations for UAE national carriers reached 44.6 percent.

Meanwhile, Rotterdam The Hague Airport completed a trial involving a hydrogen-electric pickup truck supplied by Toyota. The airport aims to achieve emission-free ground operations by 2030.

The trial lasted one week and is part of broader efforts to enhance sustainability in airport operations. As aviation recovers, innovations like hydrogen-electric vehicles may play a crucial role in future airport operations.
