The Globe Roundabout, a crucial junction connecting several major roads in Nairobi, was reopened on March 25, 2026, following necessary repairs. The roundabout had been temporarily closed since March 12, 2026, to facilitate reinstatement works at the Nairobi River Bridge, which had sustained damage during heavy rains that caused flooding.

The closure disrupted movement between Nairobi’s central business district, Kipande Road, and Thika Superhighway, affecting the daily commutes of thousands of residents. The repairs aimed to improve the structural integrity of the Nairobi River Bridge, which has faced challenges due to repeated flooding in previous years.

KeNHA expressed gratitude to motorists and residents for their patience during the two-week closure. “Motorists can now resume normal travel along this section,” a spokesperson from KeNHA stated, highlighting the importance of the roundabout as a key entry and exit point for many drivers accessing the city center.

The reinstatement works were initially scheduled to conclude by March 19, 2026, but extended into a second week, causing further delays in traffic flow. The reopening is expected to ease congestion that had built up during the repair period, restoring efficient movement along the Thika Superhighway, one of Kenya’s busiest arteries.
