Manchester United goalkeeper Altay Bayindir is set to join Celta Vigo on a loan deal, with an option for a permanent transfer. Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano confirmed the move, stating that Bayindir has been authorised to travel for his medical and contract signing.
The agreement for Bayindir’s move to the Spanish side includes a loan with a €4m buy option, though the fee could change based on appearances. Celta Vigo will cover Bayindir’s wages during his loan period, and performance-related bonuses are part of the deal. The Spanish club will also have the option to sign Bayindir for £3.5m after his loan concludes, with Manchester United retaining a high percentage sell-on fee for any future sale if the option is exercised.
Goalkeeper Departures and Arrivals
Bayindir’s departure comes as Manchester United have been active in the goalkeeper market this summer. The club signed Karl Darlow on a free transfer from Leeds, intending for him to be the primary backup to Senne Lammens. Tom Heaton is expected to be the third-choice goalkeeper. Additionally, Andre Onana has been loaned out to Trabzonspor.
Bayindir, who joined Manchester United from Fenerbahce for £4.3m three years ago, made 17 appearances for the club. He started five league games at the beginning of last season but lost his position to Senne Lammens, who made his debut in October and established himself as the first-choice goalkeeper.
In addition to Bayindir, Radek Vitek is also set to leave Manchester United. Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Vitek will join Championship side Middlesbrough in a permanent deal. The transfer fee for Vitek is reported to be £7m, with potential add-ons that could increase the package to £14m. Manchester United will also maintain a 35% sell-on clause and a buy-back option for the goalkeeper. Reports indicate that Vitek is scheduled for a medical with Middlesbrough in the coming 24 hours.
Midfield Reinforcements and Squad Changes
Manchester United have brought in four players and sold two this summer. The club is still looking to sign a third midfielder following the arrivals of Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans. A left-winger and a left-back are also high on their priority list.
Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Ince expressed his surprise regarding the club’s decision to spend nearly £50m on Chelsea midfielder Santos, given the presence of Kobbie Mainoo in the squad. Ince highlighted Tielemans as a “fantastic player” and noted that the midfield needed strengthening.
