Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk could be set for a loan move, with Coventry City reportedly among three Premier League clubs showing interest. The 25-year-old Ukrainian international has recently returned to competitive football after a period of suspension.
Mudryk’s career at Chelsea has faced challenges since his arrival. He was suspended over a doping case, which initially carried a four-year ban from professional play or training. However, the disciplinary proceedings were resolved, allowing him to return to the club.
Mudryk’s Return to Play and Loan Prospects
Despite his absence from competitive matches since November 2024, Mudryk made cameo appearances in Chelsea’s final three pre-season matches. These included games against Juventus, Milan, and Johor, where he accumulated 16 minutes of play.
Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has indicated that a decision on Mudryk’s future is still pending, describing him as a “special player” in a “special case.” The club is reportedly open to loan offers to provide Mudryk with regular playing time and an opportunity to regain his form.
While Coventry City, managed by Frank Lampard, is one of the clubs linked with a loan move, other options are also being considered. Strasbourg in France is another possibility, particularly as Chelsea can send one more player on loan to their sister club, adhering to FIFA rules that allow a maximum of three loan players to a specific club at any given time. Genesis Antwi and Filip Jorgensen have already made moves to Strasbourg.
Reports suggest that Chelsea’s financial backing could facilitate a move to Ligue 1, offering Mudryk a setting to rediscover his level. However, some English media reports indicate that Mudryk prefers to remain in England and join a Premier League club. Clubs in Italy have also expressed interest.
Mudryk’s contract with Chelsea extends until 2031, which reportedly keeps the club optimistic about his long-term future. The immediate focus for the player is to regain his physical and technical fitness, followed by consistent football, whether at Chelsea or on loan.
Other Transfer Speculations
In other transfer news, Barcelona is reportedly pursuing Manchester City midfielder Rodri, with a second bid worth £51.3m. Inter Milan is in discussions with Tottenham for a deal to sign England right-back Djed Spence for 30m euros (£25.6m), with the 26-year-old reportedly keen on joining the Serie A champions.
Manchester United is prioritising Newcastle left-back Lewis Hall, with the 21-year-old England international reportedly favouring a move to Old Trafford. The club is also considering an opening bid for Club Brugge left-back Joaquin Seys, who is valued at £30m.
Additionally, Manchester United made a move to sign Real Madrid and Brazil forward Endrick on loan. However, Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho reportedly wants to keep the 20-year-old at the Spanish side beyond the summer.
Chelsea and Manchester United have also been offered the chance to sign England midfielder Myles Lewis-Skelly. Arsenal might consider selling the 19-year-old following the arrival of Brazil international Bruno Guimaraes, 28, from Newcastle.
Napoli is exploring a deal for Brazil striker Gabriel Jesus, but Arsenal would only consider selling the 29-year-old if offers begin at 20m euros. Meanwhile, Iliman Ndiaye has reportedly declined an offer from Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal, with the Everton and Senegal winger, 26, expressing a desire to remain in the Premier League.
Everton is actively seeking to sign a right-back within the next seven to ten days, with targets including Celtic and Canada’s Alistair Johnston, 27, West Ham and DR Congo’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka, 28, and Genoa’s 22-year-old Englishman Brooke Norton-Cuffy. Lastly, Crystal Palace’s English centre-back Mofe Jemide, 19, is reportedly close to a move to Alverca in Portugal’s top division.
