Haaland’s Return to Club Football

Erling Haaland is set to rejoin Manchester City for the upcoming Premier League season after his participation in the World Cup 2026 with Norway. During the international tournament, Haaland scored seven goals, including two goals against Brazil and the winning goal against Côte d’Ivoire. Norway achieved its deepest run in any World Cup, qualifying for the event for the first time in 28 years.

Haaland, who scored 41 goals across all competitions last season, is now preparing for his fifth Premier League season with Manchester City. He recently returned to pre-season training with the club, and a clip of him scoring during a training session has garnered attention online.

Fans have expressed their admiration for Haaland’s training goal, with one supporter describing it as a “Ridiculous finish.” Another fan commented, “Pray for Arsenal,” while a third noted, “Cooking for the Community Shield final.” Other comments included, “Bro now dribbles. Sorry defenders,” and “Haaland looking sharp already. Once he gets that rhythm going, defenders know exactly what’s coming and still can’t stop it.” One fan even claimed he is “the best finisher in Europe.”

Upcoming Fixtures for Manchester City

Manchester City is scheduled to begin their 2026-27 Premier League season against Bournemouth on Sunday, August 23, with a 9 a.m. EST kickoff. Both clubs will feature new managers this season, with Enzo Maresca taking over at Manchester City and Marco Rose joining Bournemouth from RB Leipzig after Andoni Iraola moved to Liverpool.

Before the Premier League season commences, Manchester City is set to face Premier League holders Arsenal in a Community Shield tie this Sunday. This match could mark Haaland’s first competitive game since the World Cup. Last season, Haaland concluded with 38 goals and nine assists in 52 matches across all competitions for City.

The initial matches for Manchester City in the 2026-27 Premier League season include:

  • Bournemouth (H) Saturday, Aug. 23 9 a.m.
  • Crystal Palace (A) Friday, Aug. 28 3 p.m.
  • Coventry (H) Saturday, Sep. 5 10 a.m.
  • Manchester United (A) Sep. 13 11:30 a.m.
  • Sunderland (H) Sep. 19 10 a.m.

This opening period is considered challenging, as Manchester City will face three teams that finished in the top eight last season, in addition to an away Manchester Derby and Crystal Palace, who recently won the Conference League trophy.
