Manchester United are reportedly considering a move for Brentford striker Igor Thiago before the current transfer window closes. This comes as the club looks to potentially replace Joshua Zirkzee, who could be nearing a departure from Old Trafford.
Thiago, a Brazil international, scored 22 goals last season. According to reports, United have made enquiries to Thiago’s representatives to understand his situation. Brentford, however, are said to be keen on retaining the player, who signed a new contract in February that runs until 2031.
Striker Options and Departures
The potential interest in Thiago is linked to the future of Joshua Zirkzee. Zirkzee joined United two years ago for £36.5 million but has scored only nine goals in 75 appearances. While United would prefer a permanent sale for Zirkzee, Juventus are reportedly frontrunners for a season-long loan with an option for a permanent move next summer. Clubs in Italy are reportedly interested in bringing Zirkzee back to Serie A.
Another striker linked with United is Dusan Vlahovic, who left Juventus on a free transfer at the end of last season. Vlahovic scored ten goals for Juventus last season and has reportedly received an offer from Turkish side Besiktas. United are also monitoring Ollie Watkins’ situation at Aston Villa, with Watkins also attracting interest from Turkey.
