Tottenham pursue Savinho
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly nearing an agreement to sign winger Savinho from Manchester City. Sources indicate that the North London club is making significant progress in securing the Brazilian international, a player they have admired for some time. This move comes after manager Roberto De Zerbi reportedly gave his approval for the transfer.
The deal for Savinho is expected to be valued around £60 million. Negotiations between the clubs are progressing, with Tottenham aiming to finalise one of De Zerbi’s priority signings before the new season commences.
Tottenham had previously attempted to sign Savinho last summer and revisited the possibility during the January transfer window. With Manchester City now prepared to engage in business, Tottenham is advancing towards acquiring the player.
De Zerbi’s influence and other transfer interests
Manager Roberto De Zerbi has been actively involved in Tottenham’s recruitment discussions throughout the summer. He has provided a positive assessment of Savinho, believing the 22-year-old possesses the qualities needed to thrive in his attacking system. Savinho’s experience in the Premier League was also a significant factor in Tottenham’s decision-making, as the club believes he could make an immediate impact without a lengthy adjustment period.
This pursuit of Savinho follows Tottenham’s decision not to pursue other attacking targets, including AC Milan star Rafael Leao. Leao was offered to Tottenham earlier in the summer, but the club’s hierarchy ultimately decided he was not the right fit for De Zerbi’s long-term project.
Savinho is primarily a left-sided wide player, but he can also operate as a right-winger or in the number ten position. He is noted for his dribbling ability, vision to create chances, and powerful long-range shots. His current contract with Manchester City is set to expire in the summer of 2031.

In other transfer news, Real Madrid has no intention of signing Manchester City’s 30-year-old Spain midfielder Rodri this summer. Meanwhile, AC Milan is monitoring 26-year-old Manchester City and England midfielder Phil Foden, though any deal would depend on AC Milan selling 27-year-old Portugal forward Rafael Leao.
Leicester City defender Ben Nelson, 22, has expressed a desire to leave the club, with Manchester United and West Ham reportedly interested. Arsenal is set to sign 18-year-old English defender Elijah Upson, who turned down a new contract with Tottenham.
Portugal midfielder Joao Palhinha is expected to return to Bayern Munich for the start of pre-season, with reports linking him to Aston Villa appearing to be inaccurate. Liverpool is reportedly set to sign 17-year-old Colombian midfielder Samuel Martinez from Atletico Nacional for approximately £750,000.
Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Atletico Madrid are all reportedly interested in signing 28-year-old Tottenham and Argentina defender Cristian Romero. Juventus is reportedly ahead of Borussia Dortmund and Sunderland in the race to sign forward Folarin Balogun from Monaco.

Chelsea remains in talks to sign 26-year-old France defender Maxence Lacroix, but the asking price from Crystal Palace is reportedly stalling the deal. Juventus also maintains an interest in Tottenham’s 29-year-old Brazil forward Richarlison. Everton are considered favourites to sign English winger Jaden Philogene from Ipswich.
Tottenham’s summer business is not expected to conclude with Savinho’s potential arrival. The club reportedly remains in the market for a new centre-forward and continues to admire Bournemouth sensation El Junior Kroupi, a French youngster who is one of Tottenham’s priority attacking targets, though persuading Bournemouth to sell is proving difficult.
