Bruno Guimaraes has communicated to Newcastle that he would be interested in pursuing an opportunity with Arsenal, should an acceptable offer be made. This desire is reportedly for footballing reasons rather than financial ones, despite him being Newcastle’s highest earner. While he might earn slightly more at Arsenal, the difference would not be substantial.
The midfielder, who will turn 29 later this year, is said to be motivated by the ambition to win titles, which he reportedly believes is unlikely to happen at Newcastle in the near future. He wishes for Newcastle to receive a high fee if he departs. A sum around £80m is considered a tipping point for Newcastle to consider an offer.
However, Arsenal has not yet made any direct contact with Newcastle regarding Guimaraes’s availability. Newcastle officials are reportedly surprised by discussions of his potential departure, given the lack of direct communication from Arsenal, with all interactions seemingly driven through agents. Until a concrete offer is presented, Newcastle maintains that Guimaraes is not for sale and they are keen to retain him.
Transfer Policy and Other Targets
Newcastle’s transfer strategy focuses on acquiring players between the ages of 18 and 24, with price tags generally ranging from £20m to £40m. They are willing to slightly exceed this range for specific targets, as evidenced by their agreement for Johan Manzambi at £49m.
The club aims to bring in younger players with high potential, a model similar to Borussia Dortmund, to develop them on the training ground under Eddie Howe. This approach seeks to compete for titles while potentially moving players on in the future.
The club had a verbal agreement to sign Johan Manzambi from Freiburg for £49m, with the player also verbally agreeing to personal terms. However, Aston Villa later matched the offer, and Manzambi’s preference is reportedly for Villa, influenced by the prospect of Champions League football.
Newcastle is also looking to strengthen other areas of the squad. They are seeking a new No. 1 goalkeeper, with James Trafford of Manchester City being a long-standing interest. Additionally, the club is in search of a full-back who can play on either the right or left, with a preference for a left-back.
Further midfield reinforcements are being considered, particularly if Bruno Guimaraes were to leave. The club might also look for another winger if Jacob Murphy departs, and potentially a striker if either Nick Woltemade or Yoane Wissa were to move on. If these players remain, Newcastle plans to proceed with Wissa, Woltemade, and Will Osula as their three strikers for the upcoming season.

Squad Changes and Managerial Alignment
This summer is expected to bring significant changes to the Newcastle squad, with as many as eight to ten positions potentially affected. The club has already seen the departures of Anthony Gordon to Barcelona and Sandro Tonali to Tottenham.
Other players who could leave include goalkeeper Nick Pope, winger Jacob Murphy, and midfielder Joe Willock. While no offers are currently on the table for these players, Newcastle would be open to their departures to facilitate a squad revamp. If these players were to leave, replacements would be necessary.
Manager Eddie Howe is reportedly aligned with the club’s new transfer model, which prioritises younger, high-potential players. He, along with sporting director Ross Wilson and chief executive David Hopkinson, are said to be in agreement on this strategy. Howe views this approach as an opportunity to develop players like Sean Steur, Bazoumana Toure, and Johan Manzambi on the training ground.
The absence of European football next season is seen as a potential advantage, allowing for more training sessions and ensuring the team remains fresh. This environment is expected to help new players integrate and adapt to the Premier League. The Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) remains committed to Newcastle.
Eduardo Camavinga is reportedly determined to remain at Real Madrid despite ongoing speculation about his future, according to one report. His situation will be monitored during the initial weeks of Jose Mourinho’s tenure. Elsewhere, Bournemouth has reportedly been offered Antonio Silva, a defender from Benfica.
Manchester United has signed Youri Tielemans in a £35m deal, with the player signing a five-year contract after a release clause was triggered. Leandro Trossard is expected to join Besiktas, undergoing a medical before his move from Arsenal. Tottenham has reportedly entered the race to sign Neco Williams from Nottingham Forest. Paris Saint-Germain is reportedly interested in signing goalkeeper Zion Suzuki from Parma.
Ander Herrera has returned to Real Zaragoza on a free transfer. Ederson has reportedly been offered a new four-year deal by Atalanta after his proposed move to Manchester United did not materialise. AC Milan is reportedly interested in signing Noussair Mazraoui from Manchester United. Bayern Munich has decided that defender Kim Min-Jae is not for sale, despite earlier uncertainty about his future at the club.
