European clubs announce multiple transfers as window activity increases

Football clubs across Europe are actively engaged in the summer transfer window, with several significant deals officially completed today, July 20. This period follows the conclusion of the World Cup, and many major announcements are anticipated as teams prepare for the upcoming 2026-27 campaign.

In England, Tottenham Hotspur has been particularly active, reportedly spending a substantial amount on new players. Their acquisitions include Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, Jan Paul van Hecke, Andrew Robertson, Marcos Senesi, and Martin Dubravka. This spending spree follows two challenging Premier League seasons for the club, with their non-executive chairman, Peter Charrington, acknowledging that football success had not been the primary driver of decisions in recent seasons.

Tottenham has reportedly broken their transfer record twice this summer, with Mateus Fernandes joining from West Ham and Sandro Tonali completing a deal that could reach a significant fee with add-ons.
